Echo’s all-new Shadow X series replaces their previous Euro Nymphing rod series the Shadow II. The Shadow X was used to win the 2018 National Fishing Championships and is designed for the competitive angler. This rod is packed with innovative features to reduce fatigue, encourage balance, and increase casting accuracy. If you’re serious about Euro Nymphing, even if you’re not a competitive fly angler, the Shadow X is one of the best on the market. Simply put, this rod will help you catch more fish.
Slim Profile High Modulus Graphite Design - Rajeff Sports made an extremely sensitive blank when designing the Shadow X. The blank design is also well balanced and lightweight (20% lighter than the Shadow II!) to reduce fatigue. A matte grey blank color decreases sun reflection for a more stealthy approach on the water. The versatility of the rod blank allows anglers to focus specifically on nymphing or cast dry flies during a hatch. The Shadow X is even more versatile than the Shadow II and makes time on the water hugely productive.
Black Thin Wire Stripping Guides - Fly rods that are nymph specific have to be lightweight. A thin stripping guide fits the Shadow X well and decreases overall rod weight without sacrificing functionality.
Black Single Foot Guides - Similarly, single foot guides help eliminate unneeded weight from the Shadow X. These guides offer industry-accepted performance and functional style.
Black Anodized w/Downlocking Component - The reel seat on the Shadow X is lightweight and durable. Black anodized aluminum protects the rod from weathering and a downlocking component keeps the reel near the end of the rod. The Shadow X also has a screw off end cap and comes with a removable fighting butt to help you balance the rod in any nymphing scenario.
Durable Rod Case - The Shadow X comes in a durable black rod case with an Echo insignia. This case will protect the Shadow X during time off the water and the matte black finish matches the blank color of the Shadow X. Nymphs on the rod case help easily identify the rod in a lineup of other rod tubes.
Echo Fly Rod Lifetime Warranty - Echo will repair or replace any defective or damaged rods for the entire lifetime of the original owner. All rods must be sent to Echo for repairs/service. As of 4/17/2019, Echo charges a $35 fee for fly rod repairs/replacements.

The Pere Marquette river is a designated Blue Ribbon Trout Stream in Michigan. The main stream of this river is 63.9 miles (102.8 km) long, running from Lake County south of Baldwin into the Pere Marquette Lake, and from there into Lake Michigan. This river is named after the French Roman Catholic missionary Jacques Marquette, who explored the Great Lakes and Mississippi River areas during the mid-17th century. He died in the vicinity of the river in spring 1675 on his way from Chicago to the French fort at Mackinaw.
National Wild and Scenic River designation.
The upper portion of the Pere Marquette runs approximately 44 miles (71 km) from the forks of the Little South and Middle Branches downstream to highway M-37. In 1978, 66 miles (106 km) of the river was designated a National Scenic River. This section begins near Baldwin at the junction of the Little South and Middle Branches and continues until the river meets U.S. Highway 31 in Scottville
